Jack leaves the caves and runs directly north for 9 miles. He then turns and runs 12 miles east. How many miles is he from the caves?

9^2 + 12^2 = c^2
81 + 144 = c^2
225 = c^2
sqrt 225 = c

it is 9 miles or 21 miles but i think it is 9 miles
