Solve 1/3 (q + 3) = 5 ?

1/3 (q+3) =5
distribute the 1/3:
1/3q + 1/3(3) = 5
1/3q + 1 = 5
subtract 1 from each side:
1/3q = 4
multiply both sides by 3
q = 4*3
q = 12
