Orsted
or Hans Christian Oersted discovered the relationship between electric currents
and magnetism. He was a Danish physicist and chemist that discovered magnetic
fields created by electric currents, known as the Oersted’s Law. It is one of
the important aspects of electromagnetism and contributed to the advances in
science throughout the late 19th century. He is known to have
founded many societies and organizations that disseminated knowledge of natural
sciences in society. He is one of the first modern thinkers that explicitly
described and named the thought experiment.
