Respuesta :
Gregor Mendel decided to use purebred plant in his experiments, because they exhibit only one form of trait. A purebred plant is a type of plant that always self-fertilizes to produce offspring that have the same trait as the parent.
Gregor Mendel chose to use purebred plants in his experiments because they have such a variety of characteristics.
Mendel's model
Mendel studied the genetics of peas, and recorded the inheritance of a variety of traits, including
- Flower color and position
- Seed color and shape.
To do this, he started by crossing purebred plants with different forms of a trait, such as purple flowering plants with white flowering plants. Pure lineage simply means that plants will always produce offspring just like themselves when self-fertilized over many generations.
With this information, we can conclude that Mendel used pure plants to observe the characteristics that could vary and thus study heritable elements, or genes, to specify characteristics.
