Senator Robert Kennedy was assassinated on June 5,1968 shortly after midnight, after winning the California and South Dakota primary elections for the Democratic nomination for President of the USA.
He was fatally shot as he walked through the kitchen of the Ambassador hotel by Sirhan Sirhan, a 24 year old immigrant of Palestinian/Jordanian birth, who was convicted for the crime and sentenced to life in prison.
Kennedy was buried near his brother John at Arlington National Cemetery. He had been a strong supporter and advocate for Israel.
