The nurse should wait for the patient to be diagnosed before giving them any sort of painkiller. This is because the painkiller could react badly with the patient. they could be allergic to something in it or it could make the patient's condition worse. This might not be what you are looking for but it is what my dad taught me. Never give a patient anything until you know what is wrong with them. He is an ex-paramedic.
