Rational: A number is rational if it can be written in the form of p/q, where q≠0, and it is terminating if q is of the form [tex]2^{m} or 5^{n} or 2^{m} \times 5^{n}[/tex] where m and n are whole numbers or non terminating repeating.
Irrational number: A number which can't be written in the form of p/q, i.e the number after decimal does not terminates.It is non terminating repeating.
1. 2/3 =0.66666...(non terminating repeating) = Rational
2. π =3.14159 26535 ........(non terminating non repeating)=Irrational
3.√400 =20 (terminates)=Rational
4. 36√2 = as √2=1.414.....(non terminating non repeating)=Rational×Irrational=Irrational
