the distance in miles,y, traveled by a car in x hours can be shown by the equation y=55x. What is the slope of the equation? What does the slope represent?

Respuesta :

slope = [tex] \frac{change \ \ y}{change\ \ x}[/tex] in this case [tex]\frac{y_1-y_0}{x_1-x_0} [/tex]}  when y = 55x [tex]\frac{55*1-55*0}{1-0}  [/tex] slope = 55, you can chose any [tex]n[/tex] then you will get [tex]\frac{y_{n+1} - y_{n}}{x_{n+1} - x_{n}}  [/tex]. Remeber that there are equations like sqare [tex] x^{2} [/tex] where for every x slope is different
