An upper gastrointestinal (GI) series can be cancelled by
doctors when they notice that you have recently drank or eaten. As a rule, patients should not be allowed to
eat, drink, smoke or even chew gum before their GI series so that doctors will
be able to clearly see your upper GI tract.
