MOOD is the way an author's words make the reader feel.

C.  Mood

Imagery is the author’s use of language to describe things; this can include elements of the five senses—taste, touch, sight, smell, sound.   Diction is pretty much word choice; this can include formal, informal, slang, jargon, etc.  Tone is typically how the author feels about the topic; the author’s diction can help determine the author’s tone.  Mood is how the author makes readers feel with use of imagery, diction, and tone; the created mood could be scary, happy, negative, etc.
