There is actually an active field of research that studies the evolution of music, how it developed and how it differs based on geographic origin.
A few key points is that based on the geographic location, music will sound different (there still is singing of course) but the way of singing and if the singing is solo, in a group, with accompanying drums, etc. strongly does depend on the geographic origin.
