Respuesta :
The British army led the war from the other side of the Atlantic, having communication and logistic problems, its main problem was the food supply and basic supplies. This army tried to make a different war because the Americans were rebellious and strong. The vast territory made difficult the British army and decided that the war would be a confrontation with the American army through a battle. One of the problems of the colonial army was the low quality of their muskets, with little and old preparation, and this produced the appearance of more effective weapons, in the first combats, the settlers were a guerrilla army.
The size of the British army sent to put down the American Revolution was enormous. Along with this, the nature of their interaction was to put down colonial rebellion and to keep control of the American colonies.
Further Explanation:
The thirteen colonies in America had been under control of Great Britain for a significant amount of time. Some colonies had been under British control since the early 1600's. However, thanks to the implementation of taxes without the colonists consent and other events (like the Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, Intolerable Acts, etc.) America declared their independence from Great Britain. The British government did not respond well to this, as the colonists provided raw materials that the British desired. To stop this rebellion, King George III sent an enormous army to America.
Shortly after the American colonists declared their independence from Great Britain, King George sent roughly 30,000-32,000 troops (as discussed by historian David McCullough) to the colonies. The amount of troops sent by King George III was remarkable, as the biggest cities in the American colonies at this time did not even have this many citizens living there.
Along with this, the British government even hired Hessian soldiers to fight alongside the British troops stationed in the thirteen colonies. This shows the commitment of the British government to maintaining control of the thirteen American colonies.
