The Anglo-Saxons were a cruel people who had no real language skills, and therefore, the poem wasn't written down.

The Anglo-Saxons valued loyalty, strength, and bravery in their heroes; epic poems are long works of poetry, sometimes passed down by word of mouth, that usually depict the story of a great hero who is loyal to his people.

Epic poems have nothing to do with Anglo-Saxon culture.

Beowulf is an epic poem about a hero from somewhere near Denmark.
