The elements that the western culture help in shaping the Romans is by the following:

Having the people to rule with the use of extended citizenship, the senate in which landowners could serve as officials, there is a way of having higher level assemblies to have representatives to be chosen and lastly, the republic in which the leader will not serve as a monarch.

Law:

Roman law has been extremely influential in modern law. Roman law saw a division between public and private alw, wich we still maintain. Roman law forms the basis of civil law and international law. Moreover, the importance of written law was an important aspect of Roman law that we maintain to this day.

Government:

Many institutions of Rome can be found in governments nowadays. For example, bicameralism is a Roman idea. Moreover, the idea of a Senate was first present in Rome.

Language:

Latin was the language spoken in Rome, and this gave rise to the languages known as "Romance languages." This category includes languages such as Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese. Latin also influenced other languages indirectly, including English.
