Brett made a scale drawing of a rectangular rom in his house. the actual length of the room is 12 4 5 ft. the scale he used to make the drawing was 1 4 inch = 1 foot. what is the length, in inches, of the room on the drawing?

First, you want the answers in inches so you make all the measurements into inches, so multiply them all by 12. (since 12 inches =1 foot)

12*12= 144 inches     4*12= 48 inches    5*12= 60 inches
than multiply all of them by 1/4 OR divide them all by 4 (same thing)
you get... 36 inches        12 inches           15 inches in the drawing
