To obtain a long axis view of the parasternal transducer, place it to the left of the sternum in the 3rd or 4th isolation room.

The transducer is a device driven by transmission energy and will transfer energy in the same form or in a different form to the next transmission system. This energy transmission can be electrical, mechanical, chemical, optical (radiation) or thermal (heat). The transducer can be used to assess heart function.

To obtain the parasternal long axis view, the transducer is positioned to the left of the sternum in the 3rd or 4th isolation room with the marker oriented toward the patient's right shoulder. Then rotate the probe on its axis to obtain an imaging window through the bony shadows of the cushioned intercostal spaces. Then both the mitral and aortic valves are clearly visible and are in the center of the image.
