Eric Smith was suffering from Antisocial Personality Disorder. In this disorder the person doesn't like being around people and at times the person may become aggressive and can harm other person and even commit crimes. These types of people should not live in the community with normal people as they can get attack any time and can harm any one in the community. They can even commit crimes like killing someone. Eric was also suffering from this disorder and when he came in contact with the child, he felt that the life of the 4 year old has all the things which he didn't have like love, security and happiness.
