General mental ability is not one the five-factor model of personality traits.
The five-factor model of personality (FFM) is also known as the Big Five.
Psychological theory dictates that an individual's personality can be divided into five independent traits. Identifying each factor in an individual allows us to know the most essential and fundamental aspects of his personality that determine his behaviors and attitudes in interaction with others.
The five basic dimensions of personality are:
1) Extroversion: refers to sociability.
2) Openness: stands for creativity, curiosity, and intrigue.
3) Agreeableness: is about friendliness, cooperation, and courtesy.
4) Conscientiousness: refers to thoughtfulness and organization.
5) Neuroticism: involves levels of sadness or emotional instability.
On the other hand, general mental ability refers to the cognitive skills of the human being directly related to intelligence. This approach identifies the following aspects: verbal comprehension, word fluency, associative memory, spatial visualization, perceptual quickness, number facility, and reasoning.
