Glomerular filtration is the first step of urine formation. Glomerular filtration is the process in which the kidneys filter excess fluid and waste products out of the blood into the urine collecting tubules of the kidney. This is done so they may be eliminated from the body.
Simply put, it is the process where waste is excreted from the human body in the form of urine.
Normal human urine consists of 95 percent water and 5 percent solid wastes.
Glomeruli are little filters found in our kidneys that aid in clearing waste and extra fluid from the blood. Glomerular filtration occurs in the glomerulus where the blood is filtered.
Blood is generally filtered in a way that except the proteins, all constituents of the plasma reach the Bowman’s capsule. This is known as ultrafiltration.
Therefore, proteins are not found in the glomerular filtrate.
