Cortical nephrons have their corpuscles near the Peripheral edge of the cortex and are the more common type of nephron.
Cortical nephrons are the majority of nephrons they start high inside the cortex and have a short loop of Henle that generally do not penetrate inside deep medulla. Cortical nephrons can be further divided into superficial cortical nephrons and midcortical nephrons.
Cortical nephrons, are the collection of peritubular capillary network surrounds the PCT and DCT. At the junction of juxtamedullary nephrons, the peritubular capillary network forms a network around the loop of Henle and which is also termed as the vasa recta.
