So, the corresponding sides will be in proportion
As shown in the figure :
DE = x , TU = 6
EF = 4 , UV = 12
So,
[tex]\begin{gathered} \frac{DE}{TU}=\frac{EF}{UV} \\ \\ \frac{x}{6}=\frac{4}{12} \\ \\ \frac{x}{6}=\frac{1}{3} \end{gathered}[/tex]So, the similarity ratio as a fraction will be :
[tex]\frac{x}{6}=\frac{1}{3}[/tex]Solve to find x :
[tex]\begin{gathered} x=6\cdot\frac{1}{3} \\ \\ x=2 \end{gathered}[/tex]So, the value of x = 2
