The Rug store installs carpet fo $80 plus $9.50 per square yard of carpet. The magic carpet charges $120 for installation and $7.50 per square yard of carpet. How many square yards of carpet would you have to install for both stores to cost the same?

80 + 9.5y = 120 + 7.5y

collect like terms

9.5y - 7.5y = 120 - 80

2y = 40

divide both sides by 2

y = 20
