We can determine whether a number is bigger than other by the digits it is compound by. But when we have a minus signal with it, it is, a negative number, the orther of increasing or decreasing follows an inverse sense from those numbers with no signal, the positive ones.
For this reason, 16 is bigger than 3, but -16 is smaller than -3.
