to find the surface of a shape we find the area of each face and sum

Finding the areas

1.

Area

[tex]\begin{gathered} A=b\times h \\ A=12\times5 \\ A=60 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Area is 60 square ft

2.

Area

[tex]\begin{gathered} A=b\times h \\ A=12\times4 \\ A=48 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Area is 48 square ft

3.

Area

[tex]\begin{gathered} A=b\times h \\ A=12\times3 \\ A=36 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Area is 36 square ft

4. Triangles are the same, then I will solve one but I will count both on the surface

Area

[tex]\begin{gathered} A=\frac{b\times h}{2} \\ \\ A=\frac{3\times4}{2} \\ \\ A=\frac{12}{2}=6 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Area is 6 square ft

Surface

we add the area of each face

[tex]\begin{gathered} S=60+48+36+6+6 \\ S=156 \end{gathered}[/tex]

total Surface is 156square ft
