Ideally, the audience and or members to whom a speech is being given should perceive their relationship with the speaker who is reading the manuscript to them as one who is talking WITH them.
The above scenario is interesting because in REALITY, reading from the manuscript does not help to enhance speaker to audience connection. Rather is creates a gap and is very distracting.
In order to use this method effectively therefore, the speaker must have a lot of practice with the manuscript.
Create points on that manuscript where they can pause look up, make eye contact with the audience and expatiate on point given.
