Strike-slip or Transforming fault ⇒ Transforming boundary

In transforming faults, the plates slide laterally with each other, parallel to the surface. One moves in one direction, while the other moves in the other direction, and cause shear stress. The plane can be the same or not.

It is associated, in general, with the oceanic ridge, although it might also occur on the continental plate.

Rotational / Oblique / Crosswise fault

These are combinations of vertical and horizontal movements.
