6. Give multiple examples where George and Lydia are shown to have supposedly failed their
children. What does the story suggest as the primary source of the children's hatred for their
parents? [RL.1- Textual Evidence/ RL.3- Character Development]

Respuesta :

George and Lydia don't do a good job of raising their kids. Lydia requests George to lock up the nursery for a few days in order to calm down after being alarmed by the lions. George objects, adding that Peter and Wendy had fitted the previous time he had locked it up for a few hours.

I believe George and Lydia are to blame for what happened in Ray Bradbury's "The Veldt." The parents lavished their children with sophisticated homes. They allowed Peter and Wendy to use the nursery anytime they desired. They threw a fit, screamed, and yelled when they removed the nursery.

Technology has spoilt both parents and children. The psychologist concurs that the nursery needs to be demolished because the kids have been hurt. According to the psychologist, George and Lydia have allowed the daycare to take on the role of the kids' parents. They only receive genuine affection and happiness from the nursery. The kids are terrified of being locked outside the nursery because of this. The themes in the novel contain the root of the children's violent hatred for their parents. Alienation versus children's needs is one of them. It is evident that the veldt has estranged the kids in this story.
