In Fahrenheit 451, Captain Beatty slaps the woman as she does not reveal the location of the book. Because she knew that if they find the books, they would burn them down. Yet, they had a tip from the neighbour where she hides the book. So, captain Beatty’s men went to the attic and started burning the books. Where Montag steals a book. Both Beatty and Montag insists the woman to leave the house which she refuses.
Captain Beatty explains that after all the houses were fireproofed, the job of firefighters changed from the old purpose of preventing fires to a new job of burning books. This allows a person to grow intellectually, and spiritually, and actually outperform others and make others better. Inferiority complex.
