Whole interval recording procedure could be used when looking to increase on-task behavior
A method of behavior observation that reveals details regarding the precise time and length of the behavior. When using whole-interval recording, the duration of an observation session is determined (for instance, 1 hour), and then divided into more manageable, equal-length time periods (e.g., 10-minute intervals). The observer then counts the total number of intervals in which the behavior was present, determines what percentage of intervals that number represents, and notes whether the behavior of interest lasts the entire interval. See also recording during partial intervals.
On-task behavior following the completion of the recording, the observer counts the number of intervals during which the behavior was noticed and records the percentage of intervals during which the behavior was observed.
