Krakatoa erupted partly because it is located in an area with high volcanic activity in Indonesia, and partly because of the structure of the island itself. Tsunamis occur when there is a disruption of the ocean floor. When Krakatoa blew, it caused a disruption also in the ocean. The displaced water had to go somewhere... thus a tsunami!!!
