went 10 miles. At this point, what is the distance between the teachers?

Given angle to be 55° and one side to be 3miles and the other to be 10 miles , represent it in a triangle and making use of SOHCAHTOA , you solve for opposite using:

Sin 55°= x/3

Then you have x = 3 × sin 55

which is 2.45

approximately 2.5 miles.
