Lytic and lysogenic both are mechanisms of viral reproduction and they take place within the host cell. While lytic, bacterial cells are broken open (lysed) and destroyed after immediate replication of the virion. Unlike lytic lysogenic cycle does not result in immediate lysing of the host cell.
