In the early 1800s, many people in the United States migrated westward because of all of the farmland that was available. People took their families and made a new life in the west. The land was free if a man built a home and farmed the land for 5 years. It was done through the Homestead Act. They only had to pay 10 dollars to record the deal. The correct answer was B.
