When you apply a critical perspective to literature, you read a selection through a particular lens or frame. An example is the social or historical perspective would be viewing literature as it reflects issues in society at the time it was written. What would best define the archetypal perspective?

You are looking for a reoccurring theme in plot and character traits. For example, in a story there can be common theses like, good vs. bad, or a tragedy, or a quest. It is something close to a stereotype. Now for characters there are examples like the bully, the mother figure, or the mentor.
