The sea levels are marked by events while the CO₂ levels are given from ice core samples.

Five pieces of information that can be interpreted from the graphs are;

  1. The CO₂ level rises to about 280 ppm and falls to about 190 ppm periodically every 50,000 years.
  2. The period between peaks of the CO₂ levels is 100,000 years.
  3. The CO₂ levels sharply rises on a steep slope in a period of about 40,000 years and slowly falls on a gentle slope in a period of 60,000 years.
  4. The sea levels also follow a periodic pattern of peaking at approximately every 100,000 years.
  5. The sea level cycle and CO₂ level cycle have equal frequencies and both levels peak and ebb at the same periods.

Another information that can be interpreted from the graphs is that;

  • The rate of change of the sides of the graph adjacent to the peak of the graph for the sea levels is higher than those of the graph for the CO₂ levels in each cycle.
