radius = 8 in

diameter (dotted line)

               = 8 x 2

               = 16 in

Area of the rectangle

A = L x W

using the 16 we found to calculate the area of the rectangle

                A = 23 x 16

                A = 368 in

Area of semi-circle:

Now to calculate the area of the semi-circle

A = π r² ÷ 2

             A = π 8² ÷ 2

                 = 100.48

Adding the area of the rectangle and semi-circle together:

               = 100.48 + 368

               = 468.48

        1dp = 468.5
