What are the options? I can tell you what I know. The media is full of celebrities which we aspire to be like. Many women and men beat themselves up for not looking like the person we idolize. For example, if a man likes a certain actor who has a great build, the guy may feel bad about himself because no matter how much he works out, he doesn't look like the famous guy. But the reality is, the famous guy has probably hired a trainer and has a diet plan. Another example is how many young girls idolize people such as the Kardashians. The media has made us feel like if we don't have the perfect body or perfect makeup then we are not beautiful. But in reality, the Kardashians have undergone plastic surgery and have makeup artists.
The main answer I guess would be the media views fake people as beautiful and the people believe if we don't look like that person, then we are not beautiful. It really hurts people's self-esteem.
