1. Alexandra Robbins supports her claim that the qualities that make students outcasts in high school are the same qualities that they need to be successful in adulthood by giving examples and telling stories (anecdotes) of those who were different in high school but during their adult life, they become successful, using conformist characteristics.

For example, Taylor Swift had an unpopular taste for country music in school. Today she is a successful, acclaimed, and electrifying songwriter with an interest in narrative songwriting of country music based on her personal life. Robbins also discussed Tim Gunn, known worldwide for his spectacular fashion designs. She did not forget the bookworm, J.K. Rowling, the queen of the Harry Potter series.

While others cajoled and rejected these students for being outsiders and nonconformists, in adult life, they have turned their seemingly key "weaknesses" into "strengths."

2. To develop her argument that popularity in high may not work in favor of the same person in the adult world, Robbins devoted attention to showing how some students developed life-ruining habits because they focused on nourishing their popularity. She notes that the characteristics that marginalize students in high school can be sources of strength, projecting them to high achievements.
