Teenagers should be made to pass a class about service learning before they graduate high school. Teens could work at soup kitchens, work at child-abuse prevention centers or run after-school programs to prove that they are worthy of being let loose upon society. Plus, if they can pass the service learning class it will mean that they have good attitudes and have learned that they need to be on time and be responsible.

This is a good argument because some teenagers come out of high school lazy and unaware of their community needs that's where service learning comes in. Forty hours of volunteer work are needed for CPS teens to graduate, and I feel that service-learning hours really help. Service learning improves students' awareness of their community -- and even their futures. Through service learning, a teen might realize that the type of work they're doing is something they want to pursue as a career.
