If you’re speaking about the cold war after WW2, then it had massive effects in United States policies. Communism was seen as a great evil due to our rivalry with the Soviet Union. With technology advancing, many things came during this time period. Most notably the Space Race as well as Nuclear Weapons. Tensions were at an all time high with the USSR and nuclear warfare was always a threat.
