That the sniper is the antagonist of that scene, because he shoots, (only if we assume the soldier is there to help the people and the old lady is an innocent bystander), two innocent people. Depending on the backstory of why the sniper was shooting them and why the soldier was even there in the first place, there could be a completely different answer.
