30 POINTS!!

A 60 kilogram adult and a 30 kilogram child are passengers on a rotor ride at an amusement park. When the rotating hollow cylinder reaches a constant speed, v, the floor moves downward. Both passengers stay "pinned" against the wall of the rotor.

Compared to the magnitude of the acceleration of the adult, the magnitude of the acceleration of the child is

A) greater
B) less
C) the same

The answer is C but I don't understand why

Respuesta :

The magnitude of acceleration, is the same. You are probably thinking about centripetal force F=mv^2/r. But the question asks about the centripetal acceleration ac=v^2/r of the ride. The rides velocity and radius remains constant so the magnitude of acceleration of the ride is the same for both adult and child

Answer: the same

Explanation: just got it right lol
