Cover letters are a good first contact with candidates for a position. They draw attention to the Curriculum Vitae if the Cover Letter is strong enough. Personally, I think that the Curriculum Vitae itself is the most important document that a candidate can create as it specifies all the experience gained through the work life. Additionally, when you are applying to a Job the Cover Letters are optional but the curriculum vitae is always mandatory.
According to my personal opinion, cover letters are not the most important documents that can be created for a job search. I completely disagree with the statement quoted above.
Cover letters are, although, an indispensable document, but they do not help in showcasing skills of an individual which is possible only with the help of CV and Resume.
- CV and resume are the two most essential documents that help in giving a clear picture of individual's capabilities and work related skills and experiences a person has gained over the years.
- Cover letters are just a document that can put a good first impression in the minds of an interviewer or recruiter or an HR, they can never be a replacement for a resume.
- The resume contains the life skills and alma mater of a person, which are also an essential factor in determining the quality of education the person has acquired.
Hence, I completely disagree with the statement that the cover letters are the most critical documents related to the job search.
