Well actually his contribution to new protestant church was deeper than that, without him, the christians probably still paying to confess their sins in the Church

Martin Luther commissioned the composition of easy to sing melodies, often based on traditional folk songs. These hymns were known as German chorales. Many of these chorales (or adaptations of them) are still used in many Protestant churches today.
