Answer: When mutation occur in the sex cell/germ cell it is known as Germinal mutation but if mutation occur in cell other than sex cell it will be called as Somatic mutation.

Germlines mutation: As this type of mutation occurs in germ cells (sperm and egg), this mutation can pass on to offspring when either muted sperm or gametes fertilize to form zygote. Example of germline mutation is inherited diseases like Down syndrome.

Somatic mutation: Somatic mutation can occur in any cell like muscle cell, gut, immune system but not in the germ cells and therefore cannot pass to the offspring. Examples of somatic mutation are  Cancer and tumor
