He angers Circe because he was proctected by the Magician Hermes with a herb called Moly and all the magics that Circe tried to do on Odysseus failed for this reason she got anger because Odysseus almost killed Circe with his sword and she must have accepted that she could not turn him into a pig. She accepted to help him to leave the island
