The equation
y - 16 > = -8 => add + 16 to both sides
y - 16 + 16 > = -8 + 16 =>
y >= 8
NOTE: in your figure you show y > 8. That is NOT correct as it excludes the point 8 which is a valid solution. Similarly your graph shows an open circle (for not included, for x = 8). That should be a FILLED circle as x= 8 is included in the solution set. Get it? You had the solution but for some reason you incorrectly excluded x = 8.
