It unified Russia. Russia is so long it covers 7 time zones.. Instead, of being several different "parts" of Russia, it became more unified as one Russia with ppl being able to travel easier and faster.
Think of when the US put in the railroad-- before putting the railroad in, it would take months and motnhs to tracel across the US by horseback. Then, when the railroad was put in, It became SOO much easier to travel.
