Islam is the religion which had a major influence on East African cultures after being brought there by foreign traders.

The presence of the Islam religion in East Africa dates back to 1000 CE.

The Islam is a monotheistic religion which preaches that there exists only one god called Allah who has a messenger known as Muhammad. The followers of this religion are known as Muslim and they account for 24.4% of the world's population.
