I’m learning this right now so first you will subtract 8 on both sides of the equation. Then, rewrite it as 12y=2x-8. Next you will divide by 12 to each number when you are done then rewrite it as y=1/6x-2/3. Then for x you will divide by 2 on both sides and it would be x=6y+4. Well, that’s how I’m learning it I don’t know if that’s the same way you are learning it. But there you go
[tex]12y+8=2x\qquad\text{subtract 8 from both sides}\\\\12y=2x-8\qquad\text{divide both sides by 12}\\\\y=\dfrac{2}{12}x-\dfrac{8}{12}\\\\\boxed{y=\dfrac{1}{6}x-\dfrac{2}{3}}\\\\2x=12y+8\qquad\text{divide both sides by 2}\\\\\boxed{x=6y+4}[/tex]
